Received Toyota pre-paid maintenance vouchers

Tagged:

Ah, glorious sweetness. I received my pre-paid maintenance vouchers from Toyota yesterday (Saturday) from Toyota of Greenfield. As promised the package includes 12 vouchers for service at 5,000 mile intervals at a participating Toyota dealer.

It is not clear how they will differentiate the different levels of service (minor, intermeidate, or major). The Toyota finance guy at my dealer said that they would cover the each level throughout the first few years of service. I suppose they get the vouchers and look at the odometer.

I suppose the next update on this will be when I take the damn thing in for service at 5,000 miles. I’m right around 2,000 already i think.

Verdict on buying Toyota warranty and prepaid maintenance: Warranty Shack is legit

I am pleased to report that my purchase of the Toyota pre-paid maintenance plan and the Toyota 7 year / 100,000 mile extended warranty that I purchased from Warranty Shack — a.k.a. Toyota of Greenfield in Massachusetts — is going well. My check was cashed and and I received the receipt and original paperwork. The vouchers will come to me straight from Toyota in a few 2 weeks. In the confirmation letter I received from the dealership they make their profits by sales volume. That’s why I’m blogging about it.

Final costs were $875.00 for the pre-paid maintenance and $990.00 for the 7 year extended warranty. Total outlay $1865.00. That is a princely savings of $785 when compared to the $2,650 price tag at City Toyota in Daly City, CA.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) in California

Today around Los Altos I saw a plug-in hybrid Prius parked outside. It had some flyers posted on the windows touting 100 MPG. The owner saw us looking at his car and he desperately wanted to give us a flyer. Maybe he gets a commission.

According to the driver, converting your Prius to PHEV costs approximately $10,000 and it can be done by somebody in San Francisco. He also added that within Toyota recently stated that converting to PHEV does not void your entire warranty. I have not verified the validity of those claims.

CalCars is a California website with PHEV information.
